After a strong start to the domestic season, Bath Rugby take a break from their Premiership exertions as they begin their quest for European glory in this season’s Challenge Cup with a trip to France to play Pau on Saturday night.
Having finished ninth last season and therefore failing to qualify for the Champions Cup, new coaches Todd Blackadder and Tabai Matson will be looking for their new side to gain momentum and push for silverware in a competition which may well register highly on their list of priorities.

Four wins out of five in the Aviva Premiership, and once again all is looking good at Bath Rugby.
Under new coaches Todd Blackadder and Tabai Matson, as well as new faces including Welsh internationals Luke Charteris and Taulupe Faletau, the Rec faithful will be happy to see the club back on the right track following a wretched 2015/16 season.

You don't have to scrutinise the Rec too closely on a matchday for reminders of Bath Rugby's glorious past.
As the club's 150th anniversary celebrations continue, the signage that adorns the bars, stands and hospitality areas features a host of legendary figures immortalised in the West rugby scene – the likes of Jeremy Guscott, John Hall, Andy Robinson and Gareth Chilcott among them – alongside a class of 2016 who are looking to carve out a trophy-laden era of their own.

Few would argue that rugby requires brawn and bravery. Some might raise an eyebrow if you mentioned that it also requires brains. But Steve Borthwick – long-renowned for his ability to decipher the opposition’s lineout codes through a process of painstaking analysis – is proof that the grey matter is just as important as the bulky matter.
Mention Borthwick’s name in rugby circles and it’s a fair bet that his ‘understanding’ and ‘knowledge’ of the game will soon be the words flying about.

So England have earned the unwanted honour of becoming the first host nation to not make it out of the group stages of the Rugby World Cup.
Stuart Lancaster's men fell victim to the so-called group of death, facing both Wales and Australia and losing to both. A nation, whose hopes were sky high, was in mourning. Media outlets rued our lack of success at the very highest level in cricket, rugby and football.
